COMPETITION COMMENCING AT EVE Tournament 5

Welcome to the EVE Home Page!!

<img:stuff/EVEShield.jpg>

Let's skip the small talk and get right down to how the game is played...

People willing to subject themselves to the torture of the arena sign up at The Hit List. There are 16 slots - filled on a first come first serve basis. When the 16 slots are full, the page is locked and so are the contestants.

The 16 combatants are randomly divided into two teams with the roll of a 20-sided die. Odd, you're on BLACK. Even, you're on WHITE. Order combatants roll is determined by thier position on the sign up list (The Hit List). For instance, if you signed up 6th, then you will get the sixth roll.

Once the teams have been decided, we then roll an 8-sided die to determine your slot. For instance, if you roll a 5, then you are in the fifth slot on the bracket. Whoever rolls a 6 is who you will combat against in the first round. Repeated numbers are rolled again.

Now that we know who competes against who in Round 1, we roll to find out what category you will compete with. Again, using a 20-sided die, as there are 20 categories (see Drawing Tournament Suggestions), the theme of your combat is totally random. Categories will be rolled the DAY battle begins. It is possible for two pairs of combatants to have the same category. It is also possible, but highly unlikely, for EVERYONE to roll the same category. It's all up to the dice!

Each Round will last SIX DAYS. The Tournament will last one month, with 4 Rounds. Anyone who does not submit their work after 6 days, will forfeit that round. EXCEPT for the Final Round - which will last a short, brutal FOUR DAYS and only be decided by combat. If one of the finalists should withdraw, or not complete their assignment, the next Runner up from their team will take their place. It is hoped that a new tournament will take place every 30 days.

Round 1 will focus on Pencils. Round 2 we move onto Inked pieces. Round 3 will be colored work. The 4th and Final Round will be WAR - anything goes - whatever medium you are most comfortable kicking your opponent's ass with (except photography and photomanipulation, of course).

In the Final Round, combatants will choose the category for their opponent! This will require a little strategizing on your part. KNOW YOUR ENEMY!

The Champion of each tournament will represent the best, total package, an artist can offer. We feel the diversity of categories and mediums will play to different strengths and weaknesses at various stages. And the randomness of the dice roll could make it anybody's game. We are not looking to play to any one person's strengths. The point is, if you do not know, to LEARN.

The Champion of a tournament is NOT allowed to enter the NEXT tournament. They must wait one month until the tournament following to allow someone new to dominate the playing field. They may, however, apply to be a judge at any time.

The judging will be done by a panel of anonymous, mature, impartial, prestigious, and very fair Elftowners. You may apply to be a judge through private message to [Evilmonk]. Include reason why you want to be a judge and what qualifies you to be a judge.

CREDS:

2006-07-21 [Yuriona]: Good thing I keep lots of wet wipes on hand for just such an occasion. *hands moist towellette to Monk*

2006-07-21 [Calico Tiger]: This'll be fun to watch! And you're right. It's a great idea for keeping the muse going with artwork. We tend to do better when we're competing :D

2006-07-21 [moira hawthorne]: ok for advertizing banner which wiki name do you want on them?

2006-07-22 [Evilmonk]: Moira, I have gotten one for the Hit list, courtesy of Yusef, Just banners for the main pages would be fine. The Main ones are Evilmonk vs. Elftown, and The Hit List. We could probably use banners for all of them but those are the biggies. Thanks in advance!!!

2006-07-22 [moira hawthorne]: ok... I can do that.. the name can actually be changed.. and the image used for all them...

2006-07-22 [iippo]: Fun to watch? You should be entering, Calico! :O

2006-07-22 [Mom]: I love "Coming Soon"s...

2006-07-22 [Evilmonk]: We are having some problems with frustration here folks. Let me be clear when I say we aren't attacking ANYONE directly. That being said. Tina and I have been answering a LOT of repeat questions, or questions to things that are already covered. We are getting just a wee bit (being serious now...only a tiny bit) annoyed, because we have gone to good length to put everything you need to know about in the EVE Directory. It just seems that no-one is taking the time to really explore what is going on here. It's there to answer any questions you might have. Since this is the beginning, a number of pages are going to change from time to time. The best way to keep up with that is of course to put -

2006-07-22 [Evilmonk]: -them on watch. I know a lot of folks probably don't want to have their pages clogged with all the wikis this place has. THE most important pages are probably this one and the hit list. These are the pages you will hear the most scuttlebutt on. If your not going to gamble, by all means, don't put the den on watch. If push comes to shove, please ask, if you feel we haven't covered something or if we need to elaborate. Try to put yourself in our shoes, because we are getting things like: "Cool, where do I sign up?"...directly underneath a link to the sign up page. I am trying so hard to be nice here, and there is no easy way to say...READ!!!!! =) I hope very sincerely that no-one gets-

2006-07-22 [Evilmonk]: offended by this. All we are saying is "Get comfy, look around, read up if your interested. All the info we have thought of up to this point is there, and the Directory is there for just this purpose. One more thing. There are 16 combatants, so there sould be 16 folks at least watching the Rules and Regs page. I am almost certain that someone is going to not read them, or miss changes to them (if any), will get disqualified or banned, and will be writing hate letters about "I didn't know" and thats unfair. If you're a participant...watch that page! It is one of the MOST important. Thanks everyone. =)

2006-07-22 [Lady Evangeline]: any chance there will be a second set of these competitions?

2006-07-22 [Evilmonk]: Every month. See? That one isn't covered up there, and therefore is a great question!

2006-07-22 [Lady Evangeline]: if that was sarcasm....then sorry i'm being an idiot. if not, then thank you.

2006-07-22 [Lady Evangeline]: nevermind. i'm officially an idiot. :P

2006-07-22 [Evilmonk]: Not teasing at all...just relax. lol We are having a problem with some repeat questions is all. Your question was very valid, not covered, and I wanted to use it as an example of a good question. I CAN be sarcastic, but that wasn't it. =)

2006-07-22 [Evilmonk]: Now it has changed above, so that question can be answered for future newcomers. Calm down kiddo...you're cool, I PROMISE! lol Welcome to EVE!!!

2006-07-22 [Lady Evangeline]: hard to tell in the type you know. not much space to read between the lines and such. anyway, thank you. i'll be keeping an eye on this place.

2006-07-22 [Perplexity]: They need to make a sarcasm emoticon or something heheh

2006-07-22 [Lady Evangeline]: amen to that.

2006-07-23 [allenp]: So....whats this contest all about? .....................lol

2006-07-23 [Mom]: Egos? XD
